It has been some time since this site has had any big news to report, but today I am pleased to announce a major site update: the addition of player game logs dating back to the 1987-88 season. Please read on for more information.

With this new addition, our player game log and splits pages now extend back 23 seasons, which means we have complete career game logs and splits for almost 3000 players. We also have box score statistics for every game played from 1987-88 to the present. Please note that our scoring and penalty summaries only date back to the 2005-06 season, but we hope to add those summaries for other seasons at some point.

I should also point out that the section of the site that was formerly known as Power Play has been renamed the Play Index. Why the name change? Corporate synergy: Baseball-Reference.com, Basketball-Reference.com, and Pro-Football-Reference.com already had similar areas on their sites that were branded with the "Play Index" name and we wanted to be consistent. Any links you had to the "Power Play" section should automatically be forwarded to the "Play Index". Also note that the link to the "Play Index" is on the far left hand side of the quick index at the top of the page rather than the far right hand side.
